CCA Louisiana elects 2013 Board

The Coastal Conservation Association of Louisiana elected its 2013 Board of Directors and Officers at their annual meeting in Lafayette.

Charles Caplinger of Slidell was elected as the organization’s new President.  Caplinger takes over for Edward Francis of Baton Rouge, who completed a successful two-year term as CCA Louisiana President in 2011 and 2012. Read more...

 

CCA Louisiana Inducts Three into Hall of Fame

The Coastal Conservation Association of Louisiana inducted three new members into its Hall of Fame at the group’s State Convention held in Lafayette. In addition, CCA Louisiana recognized two members as Conservationist of the Year and Volunteer of the Year.

Phase II of Floating Islands begins April 20th

CCA's Building Conservation Habitat Program, in partnership with Shell Oil Company, Terrebonne Parish Government, Terrebonne Parish School Board and Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries join together again to help rebuild the coastline in Terrebonne Parish with Phase II of the Floating Islands Restoration Project. CCA and Conservation Partners completed construction on new St. Tammany Fishing Pier Reef

The Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) of Louisiana, Shell Oil Company, The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) and Bertucci Contractors constructed a new artificial reef in Lake Pontchartrain, built around the base of the new St. Tammany Fishing Pier in Slidell. CCA's Walther chosen to receive Governor's Award – Conservationist of the Year for 2012

Congratulations to CCA Louisiana Habitat Chairman John Walther on being selected as the 2012 Governor's Award- Conservationist of the Year by The Louisiana Wildlife Federation.

John Walther of Houma, a long-time volunteer with CCA Louisiana who has been the guiding force behind 11 unique artificial reef deployments across Louisiana’s coast, has been chosen to receive the Governor's Award – Conservationist of the Year for 2012. Read more...

 


Sporting Clays Classic
April 19-20, 2013 • Covey Rise • Husser, LA

Sporting Clays is a shooting course where clays will be thrown to emulate hunting situations; such as rabbits, teal, doves, pheasants, and more. Teams of 4 people will compete in this fun and social event. Read more...

 


Derelict Crab Trap Removal Program
CCA Louisiana is once again participating in the Derelict Crab Trap Removal Program. The St. Bernard rodeo day is scheduled for Saturday, Mar 9, 2013 in Hopedale, LA. Collection site is Breton Sound Marina. Volunteer registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and participants are asked to return to the dock by 3:30 p.m.
