CCA Louisiana has announced the award of a $4,000 scholarship to Matthew Philip Trahan, a graduate student at University of Louisiana at Lafayette, in honor of Ted Beaullieu, Sr. of Lafayette and his lifelong commitment to conservation.
Trahan is currently a graduate student at UL Lafayette’s Civil Engineering Department with a focus in Coastal Restoration and Protection.
The annual scholarship, awarded to a graduate student at ULL, is made possible through a $100,000 donation by the Beaullieu family to the CCA Louisiana Foundation. The scholarship is awarded to a ULL student pursuing a graduate degree in marine fisheries science or coastal restoration services.
The purpose of the Beaullieu scholarship is to contribute to the understanding of coastal wetlands loss, conservation or restoration in Louisiana, and marine fisheries resource management in the Gulf of Mexico region. Prospective scholarship recipients are nominated by faculty members of the respective departments at ULL.
