Despite inclement weather, the CCA Louisiana/Louisiana Fish Fry Redfish Challenge went off without a hitch Saturday morning at Rigolet's Bait and Seafood in Slidell. Torrential rain and thunderstorms delayed the start of the Challenge, but that didn't damped the spirits of the 132 teams participating. All teams were ready to launch two hours after the original start time. All flights were on their way by 8 a.m. with the first flights returning for weigh-in at 4:30 p.m..
"Taking all things into consideration, weather and an enormous field, my hat's off to all of our participants, ground crew and facility," tournament director Sam Barbera said. "It was a great event." Boat Stuff's Jimmy Fisackerly, Jr. team walked away with the top prize of $11,700 for his eight hours of fishing, weighing in two beautiful redfish totalling 14.20 lbs. The teams of Clay Bratton, Warren Willoz and Trent Boudreaux all weighed in at 14.15 lbs. Dennis "Brig" Booth's team weighed in at 14.10 lbs. And Brad Tassin's team rounded out the 14-pounders with his 14 lb. redfish. For the third time since its inception, the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas tagged and release the redfish back into the Rigolets. For a complete list of results, please click here. CCA Louisiana would like to thank all of its sponsors of the event: title sponsor Louisiana Fish Fry and meal sponsors WOW Wingery and Blue Runner who provided wings and white beans and rice during the weigh-in on Saturday. Other sponsors included RodnReel, Marsh and Bayou Magazine, BG Products, Paradise Louisiana, Louisiana Sportsman Magazine, JusGrabIt Glove, Cypress Cove Marina and Audubon Aquarium of the Americas. |
